Teaching Philosophy

We view children as unique individuals with a diverse set of needs, who can reach their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment. Self-esteem building and enthusiastic hands-on learning encourages risk taking and the development of critical thinking skills. We build on each child’s strengths and recognize the need to step back, observe, and reflect on children’s learning, to facilitate social emotional development. We believe that having a strong set of social skills has a direct influence on academic performance, behaviors in diverse situations, social and family relationships, and successful functioning in life. Home-school communication, collaboration with related service providers, and continued professional development are essential. An ongoing love of young children, marveling in their growth and learning from them, contributes to our enthusiasm as educators.
