About us…

Confident Kid Club is an educational program which offers social skills groups playground spinner pic ckcfor children ages 3-5 & 6-10 years located in Pelham, New York. Two certified special education teachers, each with over 20 years teaching experience facilitate the weekly group.  It is a multi-sensory program in which children participate in fun-filled play activities to enhance age-appropriate social/emotional concepts. Play and language skills are developed through movement, art, music and collaborative games and activities.

We also provide professional development for teachers, private special education itinerant services (SEIT) for preschool children and teacher consultant services.

 

What is a social skills group?

A social skills group is designed to help children develop the set of skills necessary to interact and communicate with others in everyday situations. The focus is on helping children make and keep friends and develop positive self-esteem. Group interaction offers children the opportunity to practice and enhance skills in a safe, nurturing environment with the support of experienced professionals. Social skills training can help children work on specific issues such as how to join in games on the playground, appropriate behavior at a birthday party and how to solve conflicts on a playdate. Specific techniques including: instruction, modeling, role-playing, feedback, and reinforcement of positive interactions may be used in a social skills group setting.

 

How do you know your child would benefit from a social skills group?
