Confident Kid Club parents and children have a lot to say about our programs.
What Parents Are Saying
I have worked with Katharine in my capacity as a Psychologist and CPSE Chairperson and have been impressed by her professionalism, knowledge and genuine concern for the children she has worked with. She has an excellent understanding of the educational and social needs of children, and the ability to express her ideas cogently and literally.
CKC has become known in our house as “Club” – a place where my 5 year old daughter has felt she belonged and for a long time it was really her only safe place. When we started, our daughter was very anxious, hesitant, fearful of anyone, wouldn’t speak in a group or to a peer, and rarely even played with her peers. We were fortunate enough to work with Katharine Page through CPSE. She is an amazing and immensely gifted educator in the special needs community. Her co-director, Carmella Crowley, is equally as talented. The way they are able to reach the depths of children by engaging them in every day activities (hands on activities, story time, building, playing games, song, free movement, etc) is sensational. My daughter is undiagnosed SPD and really struggles with relationships, her emotions, social interaction, and anxiety. CKC is a safe, small environment that is able to tackle all of these deficiencies and offers all of us ways to work together successfully as a family. Our daughter has grown into a strong, empathic, willing, outgoing and playful girl. In one of our very first sessions at CKC, the children made mantra-stones (rocks covered in jewels) with a phrase on them that encompassed the child – I had forgot to send one in and Katharine and Carmella chose “I am brave” for my daughter. After 2 years, that stone still sits on our mantle as a reminder and testament to all the people who have supported our journey – CKC being a very integral part of that journey. We would recommend this group without hesitation. All kids are special and they can all use extra support in being brave… in being confident. You will not go wrong with this team.
Carmella has guided my child to become a better version of himself. What more could a mother ask for?!
The social skills group, Confident Kid Club, exceeded our expectations. Our 7 year old was hesitant to join the group, but at the end of the first session, he couldn’t wait to go back again. Learning how to interact with his peers in a safe setting transferred to “real life” situations outside the group. School personnel noticed a positive change in his social skills, which lead to more social interactions for him at recess and lunch. He even established some new friendships at school. The leaders were excellent at communicating with the parents as to what was taking place in the group and giving suggestions for your child to work on outside of the group. Our child has asked to sign up for another session. I highly recommend this group if your child can benefit from improving his or her social skills.
There simply are not enough words to convey our deep appreciation for the work Confident Kid Club has done in helping our son to socially navigate the world around him. Since attending CKC, my wife and I have noticed that he has become more confident when interacting with his peers. His teachers have even expressed that he has shown leadership skills well beyond his years, all thanks to your work with him. Our son thoroughly enjoys attending Confident Kid Club each week, we highly recommend the program.
Carmella & Katharine always had a structured approach to specific topics the children needed to cover, they provided excellent in-class examples of social situations and role-playing, and most importantly, we were kept well informed with written and verbal summaries. They are impressive, not just in their professionalism and dedication, but also in the degree to which they truly care about the kids. We’re grateful to them for their help and are happy to recommend them.
